But phthalates are also used in cosmetics such as men’s and women’s fragrances, nail polish, lotions, shampoos and hairsprays. Although the FDA insists that only diethylphthalates are widely used today in cosmetics, some others have been linked to cancer, as well as reproduction and child development issues.
