Anemia
Anemia is a blood-based condition, where there is a severe decrease in the number of red blood cells in the bloodstream. This can present with many symptoms such as lightheadedness, fatigue, and even shortness of breath. Anemia is also a side effect that goes hand in hand with many types of cancers. Cancer in most cases affects the bodies ability to make and churn out red blood cells, as well as inhibiting the ability to store iron. Those types of cancers that are more prone to cause anemia typically include leukemia, lymphoma, cervical and vaginal—as they most often work from within the bone marrow as well. Anemia, when making its presence known, is a significant warning sign of cancer.
