Oral Sores
In a report released by the ACA (American Cancer Association) and estimated 51,000 people are diagnosed with oral cancer in the US alone, and the numbers are rising. The problem is that the signs and symptoms of other, less threatening illnesses of the mouth can appear identical to those of the more serious cancerous versions. When the growth in question is cancerous, it will most often present as a flat discolored patch within the mouth, usually on top of the tongue or gums. In the early stages, unlike the more common canker sores, these types of sores will rarely present with any pain. Unlike other common sores of the mouth, which typically are gone in a few weeks, cancerous versions are persistent and stick around for a while.
