Trouble Swallowing
Dysphagia, or difficulty and trouble swallowing, is one of the most common symptoms that presents itself due to esophageal cancer. The feeling can manifest as that of something being stuck or lodged in the throat or chest. There can even be the presence of the feeling of actually choking on food. The condition may only present with a small amount of difficulty, however, as time progresses the problem will worsen, as the cancer itself will begin to take up more room in the esophagus. This, in turn, will leave little to no room for food to adequately be able to pass through. Finally, one may notice an increase in both saliva and mucus, in an effort to compensate for the difficulty in swallowing the food.
