According to a study published in 2017 in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, more than 40 percent of American adults surveyed claimed to have consumed so-called “low-calorie sweeteners.” An eye-opening 56 percent of that number revealed, moreover, that they ingested such substances daily.
