Hamblin’s interest in showering began when he moved to a Brooklyn studio apartment to further his writing ambitions. The physician had previously lived in a bigger property in California. He told The Guardian in July 2020, “I started learning about emerging microbiome science and decided to try going all-out for a bit.”
