Perhaps most famous for playing a vampire on TV, many people wouldn’t expect Ian Somerhalder to be a cuddly, cozy pet parent who loves small animals. While Somerhalder obviously isn’t thirsting for blood in his offscreen life, the actor does have a serious soft spot for animals — and that’s led him to adopt a large number of pets.
Ian Somerhalder is currently a pet parent to multiple cats, a dog named Nietzche and her eight puppies, and two horses. It’s quite the selection of animals, especially when it comes to balancing his furry friends with his home life and onscreen career. But Somerhalder is truly dedicated to his pets and other animals. He’s even been recognized by the Human Society as a public figure who stands up for animals’ protection.
